MongoDB vs Redis MCP Server

Both are vendor-maintained, api-key, stdio servers aimed at inspection rather than mutation, and the choice follows your datastore. The MongoDB MCP is for document work: exploring collection schemas, drafting aggregation pipelines, inspecting documents, running reporting queries. The Redis MCP is for cache and queue debugging: cache inspection, session lookups, queue depth, TTL audits.

In a stack that runs both — a common shape, with MongoDB as the store of record and Redis in front of it — install both and let the agent pick. The interesting case is a bug that spans them: stale reads usually mean the Redis TTL story and the MongoDB write story disagree, and having both surfaces in one conversation is what makes that debuggable.

Respect the stated limits, because they are operational, not editorial.
